Which residential service you need

Most Montreal homes and condos have one of four things that need cleaning, and they are not interchangeable. A wall-mounted air conditioner or mini-split head sits inside the room and blows air directly at you. A heat pump is the same indoor head running year-round, in heating as well as cooling. An air exchanger (HRV or ERV) is a separate box, usually in the mechanical room, that brings outdoor air in and stale air out. Whole-home ducts are the supply and return network hidden in the walls and ceilings.

Cleaning any one of them does nothing for the others. A spotless mini-split head still leaves a clogged dryer vent a fire risk, and a duct cleaning does not touch the coil inside your wall unit.

What each service costs and covers

Single wall, window or portable unit — $200. Coil, filter and drain-pan wash, non-toxic disinfection, and an airflow and temperature check before and after.

Multi-head mini-split systems — from $300, covering two indoor heads, then $150 per additional head. The same full clean is performed on every head.

Duct and ventilation cleaning — $299 including 10 vents, then $15 per additional vent. Supply and return ducts, registers and grilles, with a free camera inspection whose footage is shared with you.

Air exchanger (HRV/ERV) cleaning — $249 including 6 vents. Core, blower and accessible internal surfaces.

Dryer vent cleaning — $145 introductory, regular $200. One dryer exhaust line from the appliance to the exterior termination.

Humidifier cleaning — $129, with the evaporator pad quoted separately by model. Bathroom exhaust fan — $119 per fan, or $79 each when added to another cleaning in the same visit.

Combining services in one visit

Because the saving on a multi-service visit is the second trip and setup rather than any reduction in scope, booking two or three services together costs less than booking them separately. Ducts with a dryer vent is $399 instead of $444; ducts with an air exchanger is $499 instead of $548; all three together are $599 instead of $693. Every service keeps its full published scope.

This matters most in autumn, when the windows close and the heating starts: the ventilation system, the dryer line and the exchanger all begin working harder in the same few weeks.
